4th Little League Schools Championship December 2008

For the 4th time in 2 years, young and keen footballers met at the Overseas Family School (OFS) for Little League’s 4th Schools Championship. Representing international schools, OFS, Canadian International School (CIS), International School Singapore (ISS), Chatsworth and Tanglin Trust School (TTS), the day was set to be another success.

8 teams competed in the Grade 1 and 2 category in 2 groups of 4. Each team had the chance to play against the 3 other teams in their group twice before the top team in each group played each other for the title. This consisted of OFS Bulls versus OFS Bulls. A tight game saw OFS Bulls nick it with a 1-0 win.

Only 6 teams competed in the 3,4 &5 category in 2 groups of 3. However, they had the chance to play the other teams in their group 3 times before the teams were placed for 5th & 6th play-off, 3rd & 4th play-off and the penultimate 1st & 2nd finale. ISS Villa just took 5th place from OFS Wanderers with a 2-1 win. It took penalties to decide 3rd & 4th with OFS City holding their nerve and taking 3rd place with a 2-0 score line. The final was played between OFS Rangers and OFS United. 2 late goals saw OFS Ranger take the honors.

With the 2 age categories decided it was time to find out the overall winner of the Schools championship, decided on average points per school. The Shield changed hands once again with TTS taking the December 2008 title.

Year after year the level of football seems to increase with the enjoyment for the game. Congratulations to all teams and players.

Little League would like to give special thanks to OFS for once again hosting the Championship. To Umbro for producing all of the new uniforms for the players. And most of all Navig8 for their continued support and sponsorship.

See you in May 2009 !!!
